Braille touchscreen is an iPhone for the blind

Designer Zhenwei You's B-Touch cell phone would give blind users the same kind of multifunctional versatility that the iPhone enjoys. Instead of a glossy touchscreen, the B-Touch instead has a Braille interface that'll allow sightless navigation through the phones proposed features, including voice recognition and speech, a simple navigation system, and a scanner that can read text from a page as well as recognize objects.
As with the many other Braille-enabled devices we've seen, the B-Touch is sadly just a concept, but you have to wonder how far off this kind of technology really is.

Supermarket installs power-generating parking lot

A supermarket in England is setting up a high-tech parking lot that'll generate energy from cars driving on it. The free juice will power the cash registers and lights inside the store.
The system will work via a series of plates that, when driven over, will create a rocking motion underground which turns generators. As more cars drive over it, more energy is generated, about 30kw of energy an hour. It's a smart idea, and we'll have to wait and see if it catches on elsewhere. Source

Barca Hijack Villa

Vice-president Rafael Yuste has claimed that the club are in talks with Valencia over a potential move for the hitman.
Valencia have allegedly broken an agreement with Real Madrid to sell David Villa for a reported fee of €42m, with Los Che now said to be holding out for a sum closer to €50m. Either that, or a deal that includes Alvaro Negredo moving to the Mestalla.
‘El Guaje’ has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu to spearhead the new-look Galacticos under Florentino Perez and, with Valencia’s precarious financial situation, it was thought that they would be forced to sell Villa at a knock-down price.
However, with a deal thought to be in place, Valencia appear to be holding out for more money for their prized hit-man, who netted 28 Primera Division goals in just 33 matches last season, as his side just missed out on the Champions League.

Zidane: Ribery Will Join Kaka And Ronaldo

Zinedine Zidane dealt Manchester United a blow yesterday by claiming Franck Ribery will join Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid this summer.
Real legend Zidane, who has returned to the Bernabeu as adviser to new president Florentino Perez, insisted his old club had lodged a bid for United target Ribery and said: ‘I don’t see how he can turn it down.’
Zidane confirmed he had spoken to the Bayern Munich midfielder and added: ‘Franck has a decision to make, but I believe he cannot refuse an offer from Real. He is a great player, and I expect him to be turning out for Real.
‘It is only natural that the best players in the world are going to cost a lot of money, but we would welcome him with open arms.’
They will also turn their attention to David Silva of Valencia, plus Liverpool pair Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will readily accept £8million from Real for Arbeloa, after sensing he is close to landing Glen Johnson from Portsmouth. But he is less enamoured about Alonso also heading for the Bernabeu. Source

I’ll Leave If Guardiola Wants Me: Fabregas Focus Turns To Barca

Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas has admitted he would go back to Barcelona if coach Pep Guardiola made a move to sign him.
Speaking in South Africa, where last night he scored in Spain’s demolition of New Zealand in the Confederations Cup, the midfielder also predicted Manchester United would struggle next season without Cristiano Ronaldo and told Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to sign Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure. New Nokia E72

Looks like the E71 is about to be upstaged as Nokia's premier business-class smartphone -- someone in Espoo's just hit the corporate YouTube account with this promo video for an E72. Upgrades include a five megapixel camera, a relocated headphone jack, and what looks to be an optical mouse instead of a D-pad -- a welcome upgrade for click-happy S60. That's all we know for now, but we're digging for more -- check the video after the break.

Trou Hologram Phone

The Trou Hologram cellphone has no screen, instead relying on 3D holograms projected onto the vacant area to display what you are looking at. Small projectors are lined up on the inner surface in order to bring the most lifelike images to life before your eyes.
They will have to figure out how to solve the power issues, since projectors suck a lot of energy. But one day we may just have this device in our hands fully working. That day is a long way away, but if we can envision it, we can eventually do it.
